Touching animated short, In a Heartbeat, about a boy coming out

In a Heartbeat
A new animated short film, “In a Heartbeat,” has been trending online. And it’s an adorable love story between a boy and a boy. Before you watch the video, have some tissues out, because you’ll be needing them. Our world right now isn’t perfect, but there is still hope out there, and this short does a great job of showing acceptance.

“A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.”

In a Heartbeat was produced by Beth David and Esteban Bravo, students from Ringling College of Art and Design. In addition, it was created for their computer animation thesis, and now it has spread onto the Internet.

The short features a boy who has feelings for another boy. He tries to hide his feelings, but his heart literally jumps out and tries to reach for the other boy. This is definitely a short that will encourage the LGBTQ youth.

The film was crowdfunded via Kickstarter, with it reaching 5 times its original goal. The video has now reached over 12 million views, and people have been begging for an actual feature-length movie or a sequel.

Of course, there is still hate surrounding gay love, especially with the release of “In a Heartbeat.” As for me, I think it’s a touching tale, whether you’re straight or gay. Anyone can relate to a person falling for another person. And we all have that one moment where we didn’t want to confess our feelings since we were afraid of having our heart be broken.
