SDCC 2017: WWE stars Sasha Banks and Bayley play with their Mattel dolls

Often times WWE storylines are fiction. For example, Jason Jordan is not really Kurt Angle’s son, despite the revelation on WWE Raw last Monday. But some on-screen WWE friendships and relationships are real too, such as the one between Sasha Banks and Bayley. The frequent tag-team partners made appearances at San Diego Comic-Con this week.

Sasha Banks, Bayley and other female stars on the roster showed up to promote the new Mattel line of WWE dolls. Luckily for fans of the Bayley/Banks friendship on television, the pair seems to enjoy each other’s company in person just as well. Both of them played with their Mattel dolls in a video posted on the WWE YouTube channel.

Just watch how adorable the two females superstars look.

“I don’t want a hug dude,” Banks said.

“Dude, just give me a hug,” Bayley replied.

Sasha Banks proceeded to pin the Bayley doll with her doll and started the count. A few seconds later she asked everyone with the doll facing the camera “How cute do I look?”

“Your hair is always in my face,” Bayley protested. “Everywhere I go!”

Overall, fans enjoy the storyline between them. When WWE is based on real life, fans are more likely to invest themselves into following the stars. It is when the stories are not believable that fans tune out.

Underneath the video, one commenter wrote, “Sasha/bayley’s friendship > Kurt Angle’s secret.”

Sorry Kurt Angle.

For this website, it might be also worth noting Banks is a huge anime fan. She once appeared on an episode of UpUpDownDown with fellow WWE star Austin Creed (Xavier Woods) and discussed her love of Sailor Moon.

Bayley guest-starred on UpUpDownDown a couple of times as well. She even played against Sasha Banks in epic Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2 duels. Both of them are fun to watch when not in character.

As for their on-screen friendship, perhaps it gets put to the test on Monday when Banks and Bayley fight in a No. 1 contender match on WWE Raw. The winner will go on to face women’s champion Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam.
