Hugh Jackman puts on a show in The Greatest Showman trailer

The Greatest Showman
There’s something special about releasing a musical in December. The world witnessed Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone sing and dance in La La Land in that month last year. Eventually this December, audiences will experience wonder and magic in The Greatest Showman, a musical based on the life of P.T. Barnum.

Playing the famous businessman is Hugh Jackman, an actor who I’m sure will be able to dazzle audiences with his acting chops and singing. Furthermore, he did knock it out of the park as Wolverine in the R-rated Logan flick, a film that grossed over $600 million worldwide and received critical acclaim.

Michael Gracey directs the film with story by Jenny Bicks. Jackman plays the lead and is joined by Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya. Oh, and guess what? There will be original songs by La La Land’s Benj Pasek & Justin Paul.

Synopsis: Inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

The Greatest Showman hits theaters on December 25, 2017.

Hugh Jackman’s Musical Past

Jackman has performed in the classic musical turned movie, Les Misérables. He is able to convey a lot of emotions as Jean Valjean, a tortured man who must somehow go back to a regular life.

If we go way back, he also performed as Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast musical. He pulls off cocky and dashing at the same time, which you can check out below. He’s naturally charming and charismatic, so playing the villain would be a peace of cake.

If that doesn’t get you excited, check out Luke Evans and Jackman as they do a Gaston sing-off on The Jonathan Ross Show. The video is complete with the actors each holding a big mug of beer. That’s just too perfect! Kingsman’s Taron Egerton also shows up to help with the singing.
