WB announce open casting call for Fantastic Beasts sequel

Warner Bros. Pictures have announced an open casting call for five young actors to join the cast of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel via Pottermore.

The studio is looking for young actors to play the teenage incarnations of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange, Gellert Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore, and a new character named Sebastian.

The teenage roles of Newt, Leta, and Sebastian must be between the ages of 13 and 16. They are looking for actors between the ages of 16-18 to portray Grindelwald and Dumbledore as teenagers.

Jude Law was revealed as the young adult version of Dumbledore back in April. Johnny Depp was revealed to be Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were friends at one point before becoming arch-rivals as seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Newt Scamander’s past relationship with Leta Lestrange was not revealed in Fantastic Beasts, but with the casting call, we could assume this “close friendship” will finally be revealed.

Open casting calls have given several many unknown talent to the Potter world. Faith Wood-Blagrove, who played Modesty in Fantastic Beasts, beat out thousands of other young actresses. Evanna Lynch won the role of Luna Lovegood during an open casting in 2006.

To apply for the Fantastic Beasts open casting call, email casting.prod@wb.uc-ns.com with a recent colour photograph, (i.e., taken within the last two months), contact telephone number, your home address and date of birth. Anyone under 18 must ask a parent or guardian to send the application.

No previous acting experience is necessary, but applicants need to be eligible to work in the UK (meaning they must be a UK, Irish or EU passport holder), and be available for filming between August and November 2017.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 20 June 2017 at midnight GMT. If there is interest in pursuing an application further, the applicant will hear back within 14 days of their original submission. While every applicant will be considered, only those passing the initial consideration round will be contacted.

Filming would begin this summer.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is set for release on November 16th, 2018.
