Cowboy Bebop is getting a live-action series

Cowboy Bebop
I think it’s time they make a live-action series. Get everybody and the stuff together. Okay, three, two, one let’s remake. That’s right, Cowboy Bebop is being turned into a live-action series.

Deadline is reporting that Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow Studios, a joint venture with ITV Studios, is teaming up with Midnight Radio to produce the live-action Cowboy Bebop series. In addition, Sunrise, the studio behind the original anime series, is on board to executive produce.

Adelstein has displayed his enthusiasm for the project.

“We are excited to work with Sunrise in bringing this beloved anime to the U.S. and global marketplace as a live-action series,” said Adelstein. “The animated version has long resonated with audiences worldwide, and with the continued, ever growing, popularity of anime, we believe a live action version will have an incredible impact today.”

Chris Yost will be penning the live-action series. Not to mention, he has written the story for Thor: Ragnarok and did the screenwriting for Thor: The Dark World.

The Cowboy Bebop anime is a popular 1998 series featuring 26 episodes. People have left Earth due to an accident leaving the planet nearly unlivable. Furthermore, they have been colonizing in places like Mars and Jupiter’s giant moon, Ganymede. And at the forefront is the crew of the Bebop with Spike Spiegel, a former hitman for a criminal organization; Jet Black, a former officer; Faye Valentine, a con artist; Ed Wong, a young hacker; and Ein, the data dog. Together they hunt for bounties across the system.

Cowboy Bebop’s Music

The anime is known for its exhilarating gun fight and martial arts action and animation. However, the biggest selling point is the music by Yoko Kanno, with Jazz being a huge influence on the series’ soundtrack. It has definitely gained more fans because of it. Of course, if you see a saxophone player at an anime convention, odds are they will know how to play the series’ theme song, “Tank!”

As a matter of fact, you can check out the opening theme below.

Lastly, Tomorrow Studios is working on adapting Snowpiercer starring Chris Evans into a U.S. TV series for TNT.
