Wonder Woman 2 in the works with director Patty Jenkins return

Wonder Woman opens in theaters today. It has opened positive reviews and is set to become a box office hit, possibly break several records. It comes to no surprise that there are talks for a sequel with Patty Jenkins returning as director.

Although it has not been officially confirmed yet, Jenkins revealed to THR she had been contacted for the sequel to Wonder Woman and is contractually obligated to continue. She revealed in the same article that the sequel will see modern day Diana Prince, as we saw a bit in Batman V Superman and Wonder Woman. But, there have been contradictory reports on WHEN in the timeline we’ll see Diana Prince.

Audiences may also see Wonder Woman’s famous invisible jet. According to Yahoo! News, Jenkins revealed, “The invisible jet is very important and ultimately we have to have the invisible jet. That’s a very big part of Wonder Woman.”

According to Cinemablend, Wonder Woman producer Charles Roven tells them, “Nothing has been written. We really want to focus on this movie, and I think the result of this movie is going to really define what the future of Wonder Woman is in the movies, other than the fact that you know that she’s in Justice League. And we’re really happy about that!”

Jenkins does hope to do other films in the meantime before returning to the Amazonian. Jenkins tells THR, “What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies. I don’t care about that at all. I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be [a] $200 million movie.”

Of course, Gal Gadot will return as Wonder Woman for the sequel. Gadot had signed a multi-picture deal with the studio to appear in Justice League and possible other appearances in other DC films. Gadot’s Wonder Woman can be seen next in this November’s Justice League.

Wonder Woman is out in theaters today.

Updated 3:30pm to include new reports and Cinemablend’s piece.
