ScreenX is an immersive theatrical format that gives audiences more of what they can see with a 270-degree viewing experience. Walt Disney Studios and ScreenX have teamed up to give moviegoers that experience with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. And they will be able to check out the special presentation starting this weekend at CGV Cinemas LA. This marks the first Hollywood feature film to be released in the format.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be available in 83 ScreenX theaters in seven countries. The film will be projected onto three theater walls, in order to give viewers a panoramic, 270-degree experience. Below is an example of the really wide format.

4DX Experience

Also, if moviegoers actually want to feel the action and the atmosphere, the film will be available in 4DX, an immersive motion experience, to 373 4DX screens in 48 countries around the world. Imagine feeling like you’re sailing with the pirates as the mist is sprayed all around you and the seats sway like the ocean. (Again, check the video above to see 4DX in action.)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth Pirates movie in the franchise. Captain Salazar is on the hunt for Captain Jack Sparrow. Jack’s hope is to find the Trident of Poseidon, but he will need the aid of two young adventurers.

Johnny Depp stars as Captain Jack Sparrow with Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner, Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, Kevin McNally as Gibbs, Orlando Bloom as William Turner and Golshifteh Farahani as Shansa.
