Production is now underway for ‘Aquaman’

Justice League - Aquaman (Jason Momoa)

Aquaman finally sets sail.

It’s happening!!! Production has officially started on Aquaman. Yesterday, director James Wan put up a set picture on Instagram with the caption: “Months of intensive prep have led to this. Day one of photography. See you all around Halloween. Let’s dive! #Ahab‬.”

Additionally, Warner Bros also issued a press release announcing the production start of the film. To celebrate, the studio released a brand new logo for the film. Unlike the boomerang “A” that we’ve seen previously, this logo is more comic accurate. Check it out!

Not only that but we finally have some confirmation on who will be starring in Wan’s superhero flick. No, Vincent Chase isn’t starring in the film (for you “Entourage” fans out there). But Jason Momoa and Amber Heard are! The pair are reprising their roles as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Mera, respectively.

In addition, the film stars Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man 2) as Vulko, Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones) as Tom Curry, and Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables) as Nereus. The film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Netflix’s “The Get Down”) as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films) as Orm/Ocean Master, and Nicole Kidman (Lion) as Atlanna.

Wan behind-the-scenes team includes a bunch of his long-time collaborators including director of photography Don Burgess (“The Conjuring 2”), editor Kirk M. Morri (“The Conjuring” films), and production designer Bill Brzeski (“Furious 7”).

Furthermore, the film will be shot across the Gold Coast of Queensland. Also, the film will be shooting in Newfoundland, Sicily and Tunisia. Also, the film will be doing some extensive shooting in the Village Roadshow Studios backlot. There Wan will “utilize the facility’s sprawling backlot and all nine VRS soundstages, including its newest, Stage 9, the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.”

Before his solo film, you can check out Aquaman and Mera in Zack Snyder’s Justice League this November.
