Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first DLC Pack details revealed

Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Well that didn’t take too long, did it? Nintendo has officially revealed the details for the first of two DLC Packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Before we get into that though, a patch was just released on the game. It allows you to change the voice dialogue of characters. So if you want to know what the game’s cast sounds like in Japanese, French, or Spanish (more options available), your dreams have officially come true!

Trial of the Sword Mode

First things first is a new mode dubbed Trial of the Sword. In this trial, Link must take on groups of enemies in 45 rooms. Think of it like Cave of Ordeals from Twilight Princess, only you start out with nothing. You must complete this trial in order to unlock “the true power of the Master Sword.” This could mean that the time of the sword’s power increases or becomes infinite. We’re hoping for the latter.

Hero’s Path Mode

The second feature unlocks after you’ve completed 200 hours of the game and it’s called Hero’s Path Mode. This will show on the map where you’ve been the most and where you haven’t been for too long or at all. This can come in real handy if you have been trying for hours to find the last few Shrines or worse… Korok Seeds!

Hard Mode

The third feature probably should have been there from the start but whatever, Hard Mode. As if the game wasn’t hard enough, this will make even the easiest of foes more menacing. Their battle level will increase by one and their health will regenerate over time. You apparently will also be able to find enemies and treasure chests in the sky. Huh?

Travel Medallion

A Travel Medallion is one of the new items found in a treasure chest somewhere in Hyrule. Using it will allow your current location to be used as a fast travel point, but you can only use it one time. So will there be more than on Travel Medallion? Let’s hope so.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s New Armor

Finally, there are new sets of armor based on characters from previous Zelda games, such as Majora’s Mask, Midna’s Helmet, Phantom Armor, and Tingle’s Outfit. It is unknown if these will have special features, but the Korok Mask will shake if you’re close to the location of a Korok Seed. Seems handy considering there are 900 of them!

So what do you think of this first DLC pack for Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Is it exciting or do you not see a reason to spend $20 yet? Sound off in the comments section below!

l love to play games and write stuff about them. I can't play something and not tell anyone how I feel about it. Call it a sickness, because it is.
