Watch the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite epic story trailer

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Two universes will collide once again in Capcom’s upcoming fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Capcom has released a new story trailer which introduces a few new characters joining the fight. We also see the game’s villain, Ultron Sigma, a fusion of Marvel’s Ultron and Mega Man X’s Sigma. It seems the two share a similar goal. With the help of the Infinity Stone, they have fused together to create an unstoppable force. That includes commanding an army of Iron-Man/robot suits at their disposal.

Previously announced characters in the game included Captain America, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man from the Marvel series, along with Mega Man X, Morrigan, and Ryu from the Capcom series. The new trailer also reveals new fighters including Avenger members Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk along with Guardian of the Galaxy member Rocket Racoon, while Capcom’s side will include Chun-Li, Chris Redfield, and Strider Hiryu.

Right now Captain Marvel, Mega Man X and Ultron Sigma are the only new characters to appear that haven’t been in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. It’s interesting to note that Capcom has said that it plans on reviving old franchises in the future. So it will be fascinating to see what names they will add. (I am hoping for Dante, maybe even Samanosuke Akechi from Onimusha.) But one thing is for sure, we can expect Marvel to keep adding characters from the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) which could include Spider-Man, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, other members of the Guardian of the Galaxies, Ant-Man, Black Panther and more. Let’s also hope we will get to see Magneto, Dr. Doom and Wolverine.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was originally announced at the PlayStation Experience back in December. The game is a reboot of the Marvel vs. Capcom series as well as Marvel Super Heroes (1995). The latter was the first and only game to introduce the Infinity Gems, a focal point of the upcoming Marvel cinematic two-part film, Avengers: Infinity War.

The game is set to release on September 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. At the end of the trailer, it also reveals that there will be six post-launch DLC characters including Sigma, along with six premium costumes.

The many editions of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be available in a regular Edition, a Deluxe Edition which will include all of the previously mentioned bonus DLC and a pretty expensive but awesome looking Collector’s Edition.

The Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Collector’s Edition will include four premium character dioramas of Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X, and Chun-Li (size not yet revealed) by Triforce along with Infinity Stone Replicas complete with LED effects, the Deluxe version. All of this will run you $200.

As a Marvel fan, the Infinity Stone Replicas sound really awesome to have around. As a fan of the fighting series, it’s just icing on the cake, especially if the figures are well detailed and a decent size.

Update

A video was just uploaded that reveals the gameplay mechanics for the Infinity Stone. It also reveals Thor, Hawkeye, Chris, Chun-Li and Strider in action. We also get a really good look at the combo system. It shows that you may be able to link launchers even after knocking your opponents down similar to what a few characters had in Marvel vs Capcom 2. The game is still early in development but so far I am liking everything I see. Chances are this video won’t be up long so take a look at it while you can.
