Charlize Theron gets brutal in new and lengthy Atomic Blonde trailer
Series like The Raid and John Wicke have raised the bar for action films. Now we have a new movie ready to join the brutal action club with Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron. Universal Pictures just released a new and bloody trailer, and it features Theron kicking lots of asses, making sweet love, and running around in high heels. All the action is complemented by Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” Orgy’s “Blue Monday,” and Kanye West’s “BLKKK SKKKN HEAD.”
Take some time out because this trailer almost reaches the 3-minute mark.
This is the second trailer for the film is just as action-packed as the first. We get a taste of the hard-hitting moves and the limited use of quick cuts. This all helps in selling Theron as a tough and intimidating fighter.
The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
The film was screened during South by Southwest and received positive reviews from the majority of the critics.
Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch, who co-directed the first John Wick and is doing the upcoming Deadpool 2. That should give you an idea of what to expect from this film, and that is action sequences with long cuts. Yes, that means audience members can actually appreciate and follow the action choreography.
The film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel series “The Coldest City” by Antony Johnston and illustrator Sam Hart. Kurt Johnstad (300) is the screenwriter. It stars Theron, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones.
