Doctor Who welcomes back John Simm as The Master in season 10

BBC has announced the return of John Simm as the Master in the upcoming season 10 of Doctor Who. Simm, who played the Master during the Tenth Doctor’s tenure, will face Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, new companion Bill (Pearl Mackie), and Nardole (Matt Lucas).

“I can confirm that it’s true, thanks to the power of time travel I’m back,” said Simm in a BBC press statement. “It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people and I can’t wait for you all to see what the Master gets up to in the next series.”

But how?! Missy (Michelle Gomez) is the new Master. Showrunner Steven Moffat plans on making you want to see exactly how this will be possible.

In the same statement, Moffat said, “Nothing stays secret for long on Doctor Who but you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see exactly what the Master is up to and how he makes his return to face the Doctor. It’s been a huge pleasure to have fan favourites John Simm and Michelle Gomez face to face in the same role! It’s not often you get to see a solo personality clash.”

Simm’s Master was last seen on New Year’s Day 2010 in the episode T’he End of Time’.

Doctor Who returns on April 15th on BBC America.

The episodes have been astounding so far, I am sure they will not disappoint.
    Welcome back John Simm.

I loved Simm as the Master, and also in the short lived Intruders.
What explanation is needed? We’ve seen multiple Doctor stories.

Does this mean Missy disappears forever? Hopefully?
