Justin Lin to direct The Stand Off for Netflix

Netflix continues to add to its impressive stable of premium original content, this time in the form of a new film by high profile director, Justin Lin. Deadline reports that Lin has been asked to direct The Stand Off, a period drama set in 1969 about a SWAT team raid on the Black Panther headquarters. Lin, who is best known for his work on multiple Fast and Furious films and Star Trek Beyond (although we’d be remiss not to mention his masterful debut, Better Luck Tomorrow), received multiple bids for this project from various studios, but chose Netflix, in yet another example of the traditional Hollywood hierarchy being upended by these new media upstarts.

The film was written by screenwriter Mark Heyman, who developed the project specifically for Lin.
