‘Stranger Things’ star David Harbour eyed to play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’

As work rolls along on the highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool, we’re finally getting some traction on finding Deadpool’s partner-in-crime, Cable. The Wrap is reporting that “Stranger Things” star David Harbour is currently being eyed to play Cable.

Harbour does not have the gig yet, but Harbour has screen tested with Reynolds and is definitely one of the actors in the running for the role. Collider adds that Michael Shannon was in the mix initially but had to drop out due to scheduling issues.

As previously reported, one of the film’s biggest hurdles is getting Cable right which is why Drew Goddard was brought in to consult. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are very much involved alongside Ryan Reynolds.

Harbour definitely has the physical traits to play Cable and has an impressive resume. Apart from Netflix’s “Stranger Things”, Harbour was terrific in Black Mass, End of Watch, and HBO’s “The Newsroom.”
