Love Actually ‘sequel’ set to premiere on Red Nose Day
Love Actually, the It’s a Wonderful Life for the millennial generation, has always had an outsized influence relative to its box office success. Although the film was a surprise hit, grossing over $200 million worldwide, I doubt even director Richard Curtis expected the film to continue to resonate with viewers more than a decade after its release. From the seemingly endless number of YouTube remixes of the famous Andrew Lincoln/Keira Knightley “cue cards” scene to the Christmas earworm “Christmas is All Around”, Love Actually is the definitive Christmas movie of the new millennium.
But it also left so many unanswered questions as to the fates of its main characters. So it is quite a nice surprise to hear that most of the principal cast will be reuniting for a “sequel” to celebrate Red Nose Day in March. This ten-minute video will bring back many of the stars of this show, including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Knightley, Rowan Atkinson, Liam Neeson, and Bill Nighy. The short will help to answer the burning question of what all these characters have been up to since we last saw them back in 2003. Did Lincoln and Knightley end up going beyond a simple kiss? Are Neeson and Claudia Schiffer’s twin still together? And what about Billy Mack and manager Joe’s bromance? Expect at least some of those answers to be revealed.
