Will Smith drops out of Tim Burton’s Dumbo

It seemed like such a great pairing, but it looks like it wasn’t meant to be. Tim Burton is still directing a live-action adaptation of the 1941 animated film Dumbo, but he’ll have to do it without the talent, enthusiasm, and star power of Will Smith. The actor was in early talks with Disney to join the film, but according to Deadline negotiations have ended and Smith won’t be starring in the movie about the big-eared elephant.

Unfortunately, Smith never fully committed to the project and had to drop out due to typical reasons like scheduling conflicts and salary.

However, despite the loss of such a big name, Disney shows no sign of slowing down with this project and continues to move quickly to get it made with a script from Ehren Kruger.

A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
