GameSir G3s Bluetooth Wireless Controller review

A gaming controller has gone through so many changes, with features being added like vibrations and turbo buttons. Some gamers prefer their console controller over a PC controller, and finding one that feels and handles well can be tricky. GameSir has decided to give you the best of both worlds with the GameSir G3s Wireless Bluetooth Controller. Though its main design is geared toward PC gaming, the GameSir G3s offers more features like mobile gaming through Android and PS3 functionality.

The tech that runs the G3S is almost standard these days when it comes to a PC controller. The G3S naturally runs on Android whether it’s your mobile device or NVIDIA console. The buttons are mapped similarly for a more natural fit. With Bluetooth 4.0, the G3S can technically connect to almost any device, and adds more connectivity with the USB dongle for those that don’t have Bluetooth, like a PC.

Hands-On

Having been a PlayStation console gamer since around 1996, being able to play on my PC with a controller that feels like a PS controller is a big win for me. I know there are lots of ways to allow a PS3/PS4 controller to work on a PC, with Steam adding PS4 support as well, the G3S is a good alternative for those that want things simple. It feels just like a PlayStation controller and is nearly identical to one. The button layout is the same, dual joysticks and D-Pad have the same layout, and even the triggers have the same feel as a PlayStation controller. The G3S is very responsive and rivals that of a PlayStation controller. There are a few minor details about it that separate it from the PS controller, and that would be the joysticks. They feel a bit small and don’t have the same range, but overall it works really well and handles FPS gaming like a console controller.

Playing Paladins with the controller offers a whole different experience. My main FPS game that I play is Destiny, so I would prefer a controller over keyboard and mouse any day seeing as I feel more in control with it. The argument can be said that keyboard/mouse is much better, but that would also depend on the game itself. Paladins with a controller feels different, and in some cases better. With the G3s providing an experience like a console controller, playing Paladins gave me an edge when it came to control and more natural to the FPS gaming I’ve done with on consoles.

Final Reaction

Despite all the controllers currently on the market, the GameSir G3s takes the cake. It offers more than just PC gaming but mobile gaming as well. The Bluetooth and USB wireless features offer connectivity like no other, and the similarity to console gaming will make any gamer’s transition to PC feel natural. GameSir makes this decision an easy one with many features ready to go, just plug in the USB and done. Mobile gaming made easy with the native Android support and cool bracket to play on the go. I found it strange that it supports the PlayStation 3, and well, but the PlayStation 4. But this is a console controller meant for PC/Mobile gaming. If you’re a console gamer making your way to PCs, be sure to pick up the GameSir G3s, you won’t regret it.
