Marvel announces new Avengers video game developed by Square Enix

It’s true, it’s true! After speculating that there would be a joint announcement between Marvel and Square Enix yesterday, comes the announcement of a multi-year pact between Marvel and Square Enix for a series of video game titles. Marvel released the following regarding the announcement, “The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come. More details on the Avengers project and other games will be announced in 2018.”

What we do know is that the first title to be released is an Avengers video game and it’ll be developed by Crystal Dynamics, who did Tomb Raider, and Eidos Montreal who did the Deus Ex series. The trailer was released on all social media platforms for both Marvel and Square Enix using the hashtag, “#Reassemble.” Check out the trailer below!

Once the rumor hit yesterday that there would be a joint team-up between Marvel and Square Enix, a majority of people speculated that Marvel would be getting its own world in Kingdom Hearts III. Others believed that the announcement would be Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 which would be developed by Square Enix. I’m glad that we’re getting brand new, original titles from Square Enix. After Final Fantasy XV, I want as many RPGs and action games from Square Enix as possible.

What did you think of the announcement? What are you looking forward to? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below!
