The movie has been slammed by audiences and critics for the better part of a year and now Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has earned the most nominations (tied with Zoolander No. 2) for the 37th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies. Based on the movie and the reaction toward it, it’s not hard to guess, if you don’t already know, that the Razzies are awarded to the worst of the worst films of the year.

The movie that Razzie organizers call a ‘WTF comic-book battle royale’ earned a whopping eight nominations including the worst picture of 2016. It will compete against Dirty Grandpa, Gods of Egypt, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, Independence Day: Resurgence and Zoolander No. 2. Besides Worst Picture, the film was also nominated for Worst Screenplay, Worst Director (Zack Snyder) and Worst Actor two times (Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck).

There was a slight change made to the nominations this year; for the first time, each category contains six nominees instead of the traditional five. The reasoning behind this given by organizers wasn’t very flattering:

“The crop of cinematic crap in 2016 was so extensive that this year’s 37th annual Razzie Awards is expanding the number of nominees from the usual five to an unprecedented six contenders in each of its nine worst achievement in film categories,” the group said in its press release.

The winners of these awards that no one should actually want to win will be announced at a ceremony set for February 25. You can find the entire list of nominees in the link below.
