Carrie Fisher passes away at age 60
After a long battle in the hospital, Carrie Fisher passed away this morning.
Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Fisher was 60 years old. Known famously for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars trilogy, Fisher was more than that. She was an accomplished novelist, actress, and visionary. She wrote many novels as well as memoir Wishful Drinking (2008), which later became a one-woman play. Her recent mentor The Princess Diarist is already a bestseller.
