Netflix cancels Marco Polo after 2 seasons
Things are not looking so great for the Latin and his Khan, as Netflix has announced that they will not be renewing the series for a third season. Marco Polo was first being developed by Starz before Netlix picked it up in 2014. Surprisingly, this is the first Netflix original series not to make it past a second season. Lorenzo Richelmy played the 13th century Latin explorer, with Benedict Wong as the ominous Kublai Khan.
I’m very saddened by this news, as I just recently started watching it (more like binge watching the first season and just starting the second). For me, it was quite enjoyable as I’m a huge history buff, so seeing all this history come to life was awesome. Not only that, but the characters were great and everything was engaging and kept me interested. I really hope another network like Starz, HBO or Showtime picks it up so it can continue. For now though, we’ll just have to wait in sadness.
