X-Men spin-off, Legion, gets premiere date and new trailer

FX has released the new trailer and announced the premiere date for Legion, based on the character from the X-Men comics. The X-Men spinoff series will air starting Wednesday, February 8th, at 10 pm PT/ET. Check out the trailer below.

Noah Hawley, who served as the executive producer of Fargo, will be executive producing Legion with Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Leob, Jim Chory and John Cameron.

Synopsis: Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real. Legion debuts in early 2017 and is produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.

If you’re wondering whether Legion is set in the same X-Men universe, the answer is yes.

Singer tells THR that the series is “part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it — it could exist completely on its own.” He adds that it and another upcoming X-Men series “will relate to future X-Men movies.”
