‘Rogue One’ Olympics trailer teaser released; Full trailer coming Thursday

While many fans were disappointed by the lack of a Rogue One trailer during Star Wars Celebration this year, fans won’t have to wait much longer. During the Rio Olympics telecast yesterday, it was announced that Disney and Lucasfilm would be unveiling a brand new trailer during NBC’s primetime coverage of the Rio Olympics this upcoming Thursday.

As per usual with movie spots that air during sporting events, the spot equates the Rebel Alliance’s daring mission with the inspiring feats of Olympic athletes competing for gold, blending clips of various Olympic events with scenes from Rogue One. Check out the TV spot below!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker.

Lucasfilm’s Rogue One, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. 

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story invades theaters on December 16th.
