Gambit producer plans to start filming in early 2017

The production on the Gambit film has met with numerous difficulties and delays including Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) replacing Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as director and the removal of its planned release date of October 7, 2016. However, things look like they’re getting back on track.

The Hashtag Show spoke to writer-producer Simon Kinberg at the 2016 Saturn Awards about several films, one of which was Gambit.

Speaking about the film, Kinberg said, “We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning — or spring — of next year.” So, it’s looking like an early 2017 start is in the cards with Channing Tatum still in the lead role.

Kinberg said that Deadpool 2 will begin shooting at the start of 2017, and that he’s planning to start writing the next core X-Men film “real soon.”
