Anime Expo 2016: Crunchyroll will now be releasing DVD and Blu-rays

Crunchyroll has become the ultimate hub for everything anime. In the last few years, we’ve seen the popular website releasing more anime content, simul-publication of mangas and even the addition of Japanese, Korean and Chinese dramas starting at $6.95 a month. Now it’s adding dubbing and the release of Blu-rays and DVDs to its portfolio of anime.

While Crunchyroll did release Makoto Shinkai’s 5 Centimeters Per Second film in 2010 on DVD, Crunchyroll co-founder and general manager Kun Gao revealed that the company will begin dubbing and releasing various anime series on Blu-ray and DVD.

No release date was given but series that will be released by Crunchyroll and will include: Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Berserk, Twin Star Exorcists (Sousei no Onmyouji), Free!, Gintama, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Big Order, and Myriad Colors Phantom World.

It’s a big step for the company, but also great news for fans.
