Brock Lesnar revealed as WWE 2K17 cover star

It was announced last week that during tonight’s Monday Night RAW, the cover of the 2K and WWE’s new video game would be revealed. Around 6 or 8 this morning, a press release was sent out, confirming that Brock Lesnar would star on the cover this year. There is no word yet why they decided to jump the gun on the reveal, but more than likely they were tipped off that the announcement was about to be leaked. If you’re a fan of wrestling, you are more than familiar with how bad the WWE is at keeping secrets.

Rumor has it that originally Vince McMahon’s prodigal child, Roman Reigns, was lined up for the cover. The company has been pushing Roman to the moon, which only recently culminated with his title win at Wrestlemania. With the recent new of Roman’s Wellness Policy Violation, there’s a good chance that Brock would be put on the cover as a backup because of Roman’s suspension.

In any case, this is a win-win for WWE. Brock is still one of their hottest stars, and with the recent announcement of his match at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt, he couldn’t possibly be more relevant right now. With that said, it has yet to be confirmed if Lesnar’s illustrious career will be featured in the game much like Stone Cold was in last year’s 2K showcase. It’s hard not to see how they couldn’t, given that Lesnar has had one hell of a run in the WWE. It took all of five months from his debut before he beat The Rock for the WWE title.

His battles with The Hardies, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Big Show, John Cena and The Undertaker are legendary. I look forward to hearing what 2K has up their sleeves come release.

WWE 2K17 will hit store shelves October 25th.
