Supergirl season 2 is heading to The CW

It has been rumored that Supergirl was going to leave CBS and join The CW for the second season, according to a report by Variety. It’s a move that makes sense since the show has featured Grant Gustin as The Flash, a character with his own show on The CW.

CBS’s former chief Nina Tassler originally wanted a show featuring a female hero for the network, and producer/writer Greg Berlanti helped develop the show.

Supergirl on CBS had an average rating of 2.5 with adults 18-49 and garnered 10.03 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen’s “live plus-7” estimates. The first season was a top-rated show for the network in the demo and also was the youngest with a 55.6 median age. And for the bad news? It was down compared to last year’s comedies in the Monday night timeslot.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl. She is joined by Calista Flockhart as Cat, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex, Jeremy Jordan as Winn, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord.

Benoist plays the title character in “Supergirl” and stars alongside Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Jeremy Jordan and David Harewood. Hailing from Berlanti Prods. and Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti exec produces with Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg, Sarah Schechter.
