Resident Evil 7 teased?

Capcom may have just revealed its plans for Resident Evil 7 – and it could be released on March 31, 2017!

“In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release… Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year.”

Now, technically, Resident Evil 7 hasn’t been confirmed by name. But we know that this year will see Resident Evil Umbrella Corps release, and we know the team is already working on a full remake of fan-favorite entry in the series, Resident Evil 2.

It stands to reason that Capcom’s “full scale-offensive” for 2017 would include a direct sequel in the franchise. Considering that Resident Evil 6 escalated the Resident Evil brand of horror to global scales, it will be interesting to see where the series goes next. Resident Evil Revelations, and its sequel, Revelations 2, managed to create more confined, tense, and focused experiences after Resident Evil 6 (and the amount of negative response it received) – so who knows what Capcom will create with the series’ next installment.

You can publicly download Capcom’s Investor Report here and take a look at all the details.

What do you think? Are you excited for a possible new installment in the franchise, or are you more interested in the remake of Resident Evil 2? Perhaps you prefer the idea of Umbrella Corps, or maybe you don’t care at all?
