It was reported that Daisy Ridley was in talks to play Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot movie, but now we have a report from The Hollywood Reporter that Ex Machina’s Alicia Vikander is set to star as the British adventurer.

The movie will be based on the reboot video game where young Croft survives in harsh environments for the first time. The video game has her and her team stranded on an island, where she quickly adapts and becomes a total badass as she blasts her way out to finding the truth about the island.

MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films’ reboot film will be directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave).

Angelia Jolie starred in the two previous Tomb Raider films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Vikander can be seen in the recent The Danish Girl film, which she won an Oscar for, and the upcoming Jason Bourne movie starring Matt Damon.
