Back in December, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed Tales of Berseria, the next installment of the Tales of series, would be released sometime in 2016 in Japan. The game is now scheduled for release in August on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Steam, and luckily fans in North America and Europe won’t have to wait too long. Bandai Namco revealed that the game is set for a release in early 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Steam.

Tales of producer Hideo Baba revealed that the company is looking to shorten the gap between the Japanese release and Western release, which at times may have taken up to a year (Tales of Vesperia) or even two (Tales of Xillia and Tales of Xillia 2); however, the most recent release, Tales of Zestiria, took 10 months.

Tales of Berseria is a prequel to Tales of Zestiria and will reference other Tales of games as it follows the adventures of Velvet Crowe, the series first female solo protagonist. The game will include an improved battle system which will be known as the Liberation Linear Motion Battle System (or Liberation-LMB) and will give players full control of the camera in battle.
