Netflix Daredevil showrunners land The Defenders

Netflix has been on fire when it comes to original series, especially when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil and Jessica Jones have both been runaway successes and it’s safe to assume that Luke Cage and Iron Fist will follow suit. While we have known for quite some time that all of these series were going to come together for The Defenders, we did not know who was going to be calling the shots. Not that anyone associated with the various Marvel Netflix properties would have been a bad choice, it’s been announced by the Vice President of Netflix Original Content, Cindy Holland, that the team from Daredevil will be calling the shots in The Defenders series.

The Defenders miniseries on Netflix is essentially going to be The Avengers of the small screen, so as you can imagine this is a rather large announcement. The decision to go with the Daredevil showrunners and executive produce makes all the sense in the world, since Daredevil was the series that set the tone for the Netflix MCU. While the Daredevil and Jessica Jones are both phenomenal, I personally think this is a great decision particularly because of sheer excellence in execution of action sequences in Daredevil when compared to pretty much every other television show ever. The team from Daredevil has also already proven that they know how to handle blending multiple character licenses as they did in season 2 with The Punisher and Elektra.

What do you think, Internet? Was this the right choice?
