Kevin Feige shares his thoughts on Batman V Superman

We all know how Batman V Superman wasn’t as well received by the critics and had split the DC fanbase in twine. In fact, there were several threads about Batman V Superman that degraded into flame wars between the DC fans and it got absolutely ugly. BvS has been out about three weeks now and its steam roll has already slowed down from its initial punch out of the gate. We do know that Warner Bros. goal is to match or surpass the milestone of one billion, however that might not be attainable at this point. There is one other superhero movie that did reach and break that milestone, and that’s the Avengers.

The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, was recently asked a hypothetical question in relation to Batman V Superman:  “What if the Avengers performed like Batman V Superman?” He gave a great response and knows the hardships they had to go through at the beginning, but also the differences between Marvel’s and DC’s positions.

“Realistically, I don’t know. I think [Warner Bros.] is in a very different position than we were, when we were doing those early movies. We were just trying something, and now there’s a golden ring to try to grab.

But I’ve always believed, since Iron Man 1, that things have got to work. Things have got to work, or people won’t let us make another one. I don’t think that’s the case for [DC].”

The critical acclaim that Avengers received is a completely different contrast to Batman V Superman. One could argue that when Avengers was released, no other superhero movie or comic book movie had ever attempted to lump several different heroic personas into one film before. Fast-forward to 2016 and a lot of the fans didn’t seem to take too kindly to the two most iconic heroes DC has ever produced being on screen together; which is odd, to say the least. Whatever the case maybe, it sounds like Feige knows that there’s going to be growing pains involved, but it seems to be a different path for Warner Bros.
