Singer Chris Daughtry on his Batman #50 variant cover and being a comic book fan

Chris Daughtry is best known by his fans for appearing on American Idol  and being the lead vocalist for the rock band Daughtry, but did you know that he has always been a huge comic book fan?

A few days before Wondercon 2016, Chris Daughtry made an appearance over at Golden Apple Comics in Melrose, California, for a special signing. No, it wasn’t for a new CD. He was there to sign his first ever comic book cover, the Batman #50 cover variant, which he had penciled himself with help from comic book legend Jim Lee.

Right before his signing, we had a chance to talk with Chris about how this great experience came together, working with Jim Lee, how he manages his busy lifestyle and more.

It wasn’t just comic book fans that attended the signing. His loyal fans came from all across California for the chance to meet him and get their comics or CD covers signed.

Congratulations to Daughtry for an amazing cover. It’s an honor where not everyone gets that chance, and this isn’t exactly his first DC drawing to be released. (Some sketches have been previously available before.) Here’s to seeing more great things from him in the future.
