If you’re a fan of Hans Zimmer’s music in superhero films like The Dark Knight, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, be prepared for sadness. The composer has revealed that he’s going to retire from composing music in that genre.

While speaking to BBC HARDtalk, he had this to say:

“I did Batman Begins with Chris [Nolan] 12 years ago, so The Dark Knight Trilogy might be three movies to you, to me it was 11 years of my life,” he said. “[Batman v Superman] was very hard for me to do, to try to find new language.”

Zimmer’s work includes The Lion King, The Last Samurai, Interstellar, Inception, Gladiator, The Rock, Drop Zone, Backdraft, Driving Miss Daisy and more.
