It was reported before that Daisy Ridley was a contender to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot movie that’s based on the Tomb Raider reboot game. Warner Bros. and MGM were eyeing the Star Wars actress, and now she has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she was in talks but adds that she didn’t receive an official offer.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” Ridley said. “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar.”

Her Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-star, John Boyega, has played the 2013 game and recommended that she go for the role.

“I played ‘Tomb Raider’ the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” Boyega said. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘This is you!’ and ‘You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

Ridley is currently working on Star Wars: Episode VIII with director Rian Johnson (Looper).

Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is attached to direct the film with Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers 5) as the screenwriter.

The first Tomb Raider game premiered in 1996 and was then rebooted in 2013, which sold over 5 million copies. A sequel to the reboot, Rise of the Tomb Raider, is now available for the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, with the PS4 version coming later this year.
