Is Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley going to portray Lara Croft in Tomb Raider movie?

The upcoming Tomb Raider reboot movie will be inspired by the Tomb Raider reboot video game that came out in 2013, according to director Roar Uthaug (The Wave). Deadline is now reporting that Warner Bros. and MGM are looking at a list of actresses for the role of Lara Croft, the heroine of the franchise. One of them is Daisy Ridley, who can be seen recently as Rey in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Ridley is currently working on Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. Will she have time to do this? Chances are slim.

Uthaug will be directing from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers 5).

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix saw big success when they rebooted the video game franchise back in 2013 with over 5 million copies sold. The sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, did really well with the PC release. The 2013 game follows Lara as she is stranded on a mysterious island with her team as they fight for survival.

The previous films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, starred Angelina Jolie and made a total of $432 million worldwide at the box office.
