Oculus Rift pre-orders open January 6
FINALLY!
That’s what I’m assuming what every person on the planet who’s been waiting for this all said when reading the announcement:
“Today, we’re excited to announce that pre-orders for Rift will open on Oculus.com at 8am Pacific Time on January 6! We’ll be sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday when pre-orders go live.”
Now when it comes to the actual pricing of the Rift, we only have a little bit of info to go by, according to a statement made by Oculus’ founder Palmer Luckey in an interview last October with Road to VR:
“You know, I’m going to be perfectly honest with you. We’re roughly in that ballpark [$350]… but it’s going to cost more than that. And the reason for that is that we’ve added a lot of technology to this thing beyond what existed in the DK1 and DK2 days.”
So almost as if it’s a brand new console, we can expect the Rift to fall in between $350 – $500, which to some may be quite a huge dent in the wallet, but considering it comes with 2 free games bundled with it and a brand new experience of gaming, it’s an exciting time as the curtain rises on home VR Gaming.
Only one question remains here however: Will you pre-order a Rift?
