PSX 2015: Brutal impressions

Ever wondered what would happen if you crisscrossed the art styles of Nintendo Wii’s MadWorld and Tron and the gameplay of a real-time Dungeons and Dragons? Well, look no further than Stormcloud Games’ newest project, Brutal.

Brutal plays just as you’d expect from the title. By the end of PSX, I was only one of four players that managed to complete the 3-floor demo over the 2 days it was playable. The game is a top-down action RPG where you explore a dungeon filled with traps, bottomless pits and hordes of skeletons, zombies, spiders and other nightmarish enemies that want nothing more than your blood.

There were 4 classes available on the showroom floor: the wizard, amazon, warrior, and archer, each with their own special ability. Fear not, there are many tools at your disposal to aid in your survival such as trees of life for healing and even altars of the gods that can grant extra lives if you have enough gold to offer. Combat will move at your cadence a majority of the time; however, there will be times where swarms of enemies come at you relentlessly.

Brutal will feature 4-player co-op, dungeon creation, item crafting and much more when the final version launches in 2016.

Check out the trailer below and get ready for things to get Brutal!
