It’s time to CHILL at the Queen Mary this winter

queenmarychillintro

It’s that time again! It’s time for holiday shopping, taking photos with Santa, and keeping the kids busy while they are out of school! What should you do?! The Queen Mary has an option for you that will take care of the kids, parents, people who love to Instagram, and those who just want to chill – literally!

Introducing The Queen Mary’s CHILL. Entry into the event includes The Ice Kingdom, Glacier Ice Tubing, Bubble Blizzards, Snow Flurries, Story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Enchanted Garden filled with fairies, the North Pole Post Office, Reindeer games, and many more fun events.

This year’s theme for the famous Ice Kingdom is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This hand-carved ice palace holds more than two million pounds of ice that has been meticulously carved into Ebenezer Scrooge and the many characters of the story. The story is being told over speakers as you walk through each scene. There is also an ice slide for the kids to go through on their ice Queen Mary replica (adults can also slide down).

Don’t worry about the cold – parkas are provided for FREE when you enter. This ice palace is perfect for photo ops and selfies on Instagram – #QMChill.

queenmarychill6For parents or just adults in general, there is an ICE BAR – that serves alcohol nightly. The area is made to look like you’re on the Queen Mary. They offer one-of-a-kind Vodka tasting experience at certain times. Yes… warm up with some alcohol!

After the Ice Kingdom, have some fun on the ice on the Glacier Glide. Kids and adults will have a lot of fun on this ride – which is unlimited! There is a person monitoring at the top of every slide to ensure you or/and your child is safe. The six lanes are made entirely of ice with carpet at the end to stop you. The slide stands at two stories tall and 100 feet long and depending on your weight (and if they give you a little push), it can go pretty fast. This will keep your child entertained for a few hours – especially with the lines for this. To avoid the lines, I recommend purchasing the E.L.F. (Express Lane Fast) Pass at the information desk for $20 (or buy them online in advance for $15). You will be in the fast lane and on your way for some fun.

Need photos with Santa? Well, this place has the best deal for your Santa photos. For $15, you could get a printed Santa photo OR you could get 10 digital copies of yo15-12-02-15-55-54-280_decour photos with Santa in a Gingerbread USB for $20 OR both for $30.  That is a steal, compared to multiple Santa photos prices. Below, we took this opportunity to re-create a childhood Christmas photo with Santa (props were brought in by Nerd Reactor staff). The Santa and Mrs. Claus are extremely friendly. Mrs. Claus even provides a storytime for visiting children.

If you would like to give your child a better experience with Santa, CHILL offers an exclusive event for an additional price. You and your child could have breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Maybe this will help them not be afraid of him.

CHILLIf you feel tired from walking around the event, you can relax by the fire and listen to some musical acts on the Igloo stage, such as The Satin Dollz, Bling Divas, A-mas Entertainers, and The Stargazers. The seating area is great for a cold day. Why? Because each seating area has a mini-fireplace set in front of them. There are almost a performance almost every hour.

The Port of Long Beach provided this event with a 6,500 square-foot outdoor ice rink for everyone to enjoy. Ice skating is available with an additional fee of $15, which includes the cost of the skates rental. The ice skating rink is huge. If you don’t feel like skating and just want to watch an ice skating show – there are performances!

Still bored and want to get away from the ice? There are some new attractions for you and/or your kids could enjoy! There is a hidden Enchanted GardenCHILL maze. You enter into this dark maze, but it’s not scary at all. Instead, it’s very beautiful and looks like an entrance into a dream engagement proposal. Actually, this spot would be a beautiful place to propose. Inside, you will find Holiday displays, a ball pen for the kids, and sometimes, some fairies walking around. Don’t forget to also check out the new Polar Paintball Shooting Gallery! Yes… Polar PAINTBALL shooting gallery. Test your shooting skills and aim for the Yeti wandering around. There is also the Illumination Candle Shoppe where you could build your own custom candle for $9! This is the perfect gift for candle lovers, and maybe, just the lovers out there. There is the carousel swing from the Michael Jackson Neverland Ranch and The Largest Rocking Horse in the World available to ride for an additional fee!

Don’t forget to visit Ginny Gingerbread in her Gingerbread home! Gingerbread making kits are available for sale and may be built into her house. Photo ops are available. Honestly, of all of the fairy tale characters the Queen Mary Chill has to offer, Ginny is the cutest.

As for the food selection, it varies between pizza, hot dogs, sausages, candy, cookies, and cakes. Adults – there is a bar available next to The Igloo called Scrooge & Marley Pub. They are surrounding the main stage – so just buy your food, drink, and enjoy the show. The event also offers face painting, story time, making your own T-shirt, crafts, and writing Santa a letter in the village – if you wanted to do MORE.

Overall, the event is a great day or night out with the family and friends. There is always something to do. Check out the events here. For ticket information and to purchase tickets, click here. Also, each ticket purchase also gives you access to go abroad the Queen Mary – FREE!
