Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife joins Super Smash Bros roster!

We’ve seen Cloud appear in a few Nintendo video games in the past, but nothing like this.

Nintendo has revealed that Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII will be making his debut appearance in Super Smash Brothers for Wii/3DS.

In the announcement trailer, we were shown various summons and an exclusive FFVII Midgar stage. The summons included: Ifrit, Leviathan, Bahamut, Odin, and Ramuh. Cloud’s fighting style looks amazing and very well-rounded (much like other swordfighters like Ike and the other Fire Emblem characters). We got to see a variety of moves from Cloud, including his Cross-Slash, Blade Beam, Climhazzard and his final smash, which is his ever-popular, iconic ‘Limit Break’, Omnislash.

The trailer shows Cloud in both his original Final Fantasy VII outfit, as well as his Advent Children clothes. By far, this has been one of the most exciting and unexpected announcements that Nintendo has released, which ‘broke the internet’ the moment the iconic Final Fantasy VII intro was played.

So with that announcement, what else can top this? Tune in this December for another Nintendo Direct! If anything, we may see Cloud released after the Super Smash Bros. Special Broadcast, similar to what Nintendo did for Roy, Lucas, and Ryu.
