Xenoblade Chronicles X’s open world is bigger than Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Witcher 3 combined

Xenoblade-Chronicles-X

As if I wasn’t already hyped enough for Xenoblade Chronicles X, Nintendo World Report put together a little video demonstrating how this game is going to be the Wii U’s biggest (literally) title yet.

The video displays footage of Xenoblade alongside footage of Skyrim both sped up for the sake of time. The character in Skyrim is moving slowly across the entirety of the map while the one in Xenoblade is moving considerably fast inside a walking-machine called a Skell, which the player occasionally turns into a motorcycle. In the amount of time it took to cross Skyrim (20-25 minutes), the Skell didn’t even make it across Xenoblade‘s world, the planet Mira, and still had plenty left to explore.

The narrator in the video, John Rairdin, states that Skyrim is about 14 square miles while the planet Mira is about 154 square miles. The map of Fallout 4 could fit in there 5 times and The Witcher 3‘s map 3 times. Keeping in mind that this is a seamless open world with tons of creatures of varying shapes and sizes. It looks like I’m going to have to make some room on my Wii U because this game is colossal!

Xenoblade Chronicles X launches on Wii U December 4th for North America.

l love to play games and write stuff about them. I can't play something and not tell anyone how I feel about it. Call it a sickness, because it is.
