What is The Social Medium?

The Social Medium // Season One

What happens when you bring together that of a “psychic” and a hipster? A lovely little web series called The Social Medium.

With so many different trends to follow these days, creator Brian Newlin decided to take those typical blogger types and make one specifically about those who can see the dead.

The star of the show is a cute hipster chick who goes by the name of Beatrix Beckett, played by the ever so delightful Tara Jayn. Beckett is a psychic who makes video logs about her experiences with those who have passed on. Occasionally, Beatrix’s boyfriend Fallon, played by James Brent Isaacs, likes to pop in and question her abilities. It’s cute, it’s creative, and I’m in love with it.

The show began asking fans to help fund it via Indiegogo earlier this year. With a successful campaign, they began their dive into the show’s origin story. But it went further than that.

Not only did the show promote itself via social media, but the characters even went on to make their own Twitter accounts and blogs. (No, I don’t mean the actors made their own personal accounts.) Miss Beckett has her very own blog you can read and follow. Now that, my friends, is the stuff I like to see.

You can take a look at the first episode in the Origin Story section below. Get to know Beatrix and her gift.

You may or may not have seen me dancing around on our YouTube channel. I really love psychology and dissecting shows/film. Also your token anime nerd.
