A look into a brilliant, new YouTube series: Legends of Gaming

Legends of Gaming // Host Tobuscus

Legends of Gaming is a 35-episode YouTube series involving a bunch of gamers competing against each other in various games. The show is hosted by popular YouTuber Tobuscus and features loads of other amazing gamers such as The Jovenshire, Syndicate Project, Terroriser, TmarTn, OMGitsfirefoxx, iiJERiiCHOii, and more. You may even be familiar with most, if not all.

I had the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with some of the players of the series. Filmed at YouTube Space LA, Smasher gave us an entire set tour and let us even watch them film part of the episode. How cool is that?

Nerd Reactor: What has been your favorite competition so far?

iiJERiiCHOii: I like the ones where nobody has a clear advantage because we had never played it before. We are all trying to compete to be the best, but there is like a well-known line that we are significantly worse than they are (the coaches) at every facet of the word being “pro.” So it’s nice when the playing field is pretty level. You get a lot of good, raw emotions and banter between the groups and players, and it’s not a blowout from the first second. It keeps it interesting, I think.

Fatal1ty: You find these unique situations that happen during the battle and I think those moments would be highlighted during the show. I hope it makes a lot of people laugh. You bring out the raw spirit. Kind of like when you go to your friend’s house, and you’re all playing and you’re like, “Oh yeah, I’m going to kick your ass!” So you’re going to have that same kind of environment.

Tobuscus: Yeah my friends are the same. They go, “Get out of my house!”

NR: Was there a point in your life where you realized you wanted to be a competitive gamer?

Carl White of Perfect Legend: When I was 16, I didn’t really care about being the best or anything. I just wanted to be in the highlight. I ended up being highlighted in the game because I won. So there was never a point where I said, “Oh, I wanted to do it.” It kind of just happened and I was like, “You know what? I like beating people.” So it kind of just grew and I never thought it would be like this ten years from today.

Fatal1ty: I think for any professional gamer or YouTuber you kind of start doing it as a hobby and then next thing you know, you’re making money with it. You ask yourself how is this even possible? So it’s like you kind of do it for love first. For me, it was the same kind of thing. I wanted to play video games and I can’t wait to tell my grandkids that I did that.

Tobuscus: [In a grandpa voice] I’m Fatal1ty and I used to kill everyone! Now go to your rooms, you hear me?

Fatal1ty: I think after that I told myself I wanted to become a world champion. I used to hate tough guys on the internet, who would say they were too cool and act all Hollywood. So my biggest thing was to not be a dick and to be very open minded. And like I said, be very likable for everyone.

iiJERiiCHOii also spoke about how he’s never filmed anything like this, and it’s nice to know how much quality is being put into the show. Let me tell you, he’s certainly right. As far as production goes, Legends of Gaming did not disappoint. You can have a look at an episode below and let it speak for itself.

Overall, my experience meeting the teams and contestants as well as their coaches, on top of getting to see the studio and meet so many cool people, was awesome. All of the gamers were so lovely and fun to be around, and virtually they’re that way too. Just like Fatal1ty said, “It’s like hanging out with all your friends and playing games.” Which I personally feel as if that’s exactly what the series does.

Tobuscus does an amazing job at hosting, and I don’t think they could have picked a better choice when it comes to that. The reactions from gamers, the way they interact and compete, it’s all so good and that’s why I believe it’s 100% something you should invest your time into watching.

Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel, and stay tuned for the upcoming seasons as well! I’m so excited to see what’s next.
