Razer announces the 2016 BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Keyboard

Today, Razer announced their newest product in their gaming peripheral line, the 2016 Razer BlackWidow Ultimate mechanical keyboard.

The biggest changes in the new model is the introduction of the advanced lighting effects that are found in their Chroma line. Each individually backlit green LED can be customized through Razer’s Synapse software to display a variety of different lighting effects. The preset effects include Wave, Ripple, Reactive, Starlight and static. Users can also come up with their own effects using the Synapse software.

The lighting isn’t the only thing that is changing. The 2016 BlackWidow Ultimate also features an improved smudge-free top cover, a combined audio and microphone jack, a USB pass-through port and an enhanced indicator panel on the top right. To top it off, this new model will take up less space than its predecessor.

Each Razer Mechanical Switch has actuation and reset points that are engineered to a fraction of a millimeter. This means faster response times which could mean the difference between a double kill and you getting killed. With rated lifespan of up to 60 million keystrokes, Razer claims their mechanical keys are designed from the ground up with durability in mind.

The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2016 is available immediately in the U.S./Canada and Latin America for U.S. $109.99. Europe and Asia-Pacific will have to wait until later this year. For more information on the new BlackWidow Ultimate including a full list of features, click here.
