UK tabloid site Daily Star recently reported that a Game of Thrones movie was in the works, with George R.R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, “confirming” it. In the report, he said, “There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and DB and David are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do.”

As it turns out, the story was false. The news had many fans excited to check out their favorite characters on the big screen, but Martin has squashed the rumor via his Livejournal account.

A fan asked whether the interview was true or not. Martin responded, “Yes, completely false. No one is working on any movie just now. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion.”

Superfans Elio and Linda, who helped write A World of Song and Fire with Martin, weren’t too keen on the tabloid doing this.

Are you sad that the Game of Thrones movie news was fake?
