Konami will still make Metal Gear Solid games without Hideo Kojima

Kojima

Kojima has been pretty quiet about the whole Konami and Kojima Productions drama. However, it seems that he is continuing on with other projects, including teaming up with Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro again outside of Konami. It was said that Kojima’s involvement with the Metal Gear Solid series would cease after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Now that the game is out and has received critical acclaim, Konami has shed some light on a Metal Gear Solid world without Kojima.

In an interview with Game On Daily, Konami’s senior UK community manager Graham Day has revealed that the Metal Gear Solid series will go on without Kojima.

“Obviously the Metal Gear brand will continue,” said Day. “Metal Gear is about the story, it’s about the characters.”

Perhaps we’ll be getting spin-off titles, similar to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

What about the rumor that Konami will be focusing on mobile games and ditching AAA games, except for PES?

“Don’t believe everything you read in the press,” said Day, who reiterated that “things have been taken out of context.”

“Konami has a history of making the best games around and that is something that will continue,” said Day.

How soon will we see the next Metal Gear game? Would you buy a future Metal Gear game knowing that Kojima won’t be involved? Let us know in the comments below.
