Booms! Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Comic debuting in January

Back in June, BOOM! Studios announced it had partnered with Saban Brands to release a comic series based on the ever-popular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. At San Diego Comic-Con you could buy one of six variant covers drawn by Goñi Montes (which you can see below), but thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have some new information and a look at the newest cover featuring the White Ranger.

While the illustrator for the MMPR comic series has yet to be revealed, the comic will be penned by Kyle Higgins (who has worked on titles such as Batman Eternal and Nightwing). Issue #0 issue which will be released in January and will include a short story written by Mairghread Scott (Transformers: Windblade) and illustrated by Daniel Bayliss (Translucid).

BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon had this statement for fans: “Fans of BOOM! know we treat the existing properties we collaborate on with a focus on authenticity and quality. That’s the same sensibility we’re applying here. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have an awesome fan base and we can’t wait to show them how much fun we’re having.”
