Dragon Ball Super North American announcement next month?

The summer anime season is in full swing with some great series to watch including my personal recommendations: Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: Thus the JSDF Fought There!), Gangsta, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Overlord and God Eater. While all of those series I mentioned have been licensed and are available to watch via simulcast on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and the Funimation channel, there is one huge series that hasn’t been officially released or licensed yet, and that series is Dragon Ball Super.

You would think with the popularity of the series, this would be an instant lock for Funimation, since they have been the main distributor of the entire Dragon Ball series in North America including the most recent release, Resurrection of ‘F’. There has been no official announcement of the series which is currently on episode 9 in Japan.

Luckily, there might be some good news for fans waiting on the series next month at New York Comic Con. FUNimation’s Justin Rojas will be joined by Sean Schemmel (voices Son Goku) and Christopher R. Sabat (voices Vegeta, Piccolo and more) for a special “FUNimation Presents: Dragon Ball Z (and Beyond)” panel that takes a look at the history of the Dragon Ball television series, its current theatrical success, and the highly-anticipated follow-up series, Dragon Ball Super.
