James Bond’s 007 films are known for its sexy Bond girls, action, cool tech, and the suave secret agent. The series is also known for having high-profile singers performing its theme songs. We’ve had Tina Turner performing the GoldenEye theme song and Adele for Skyfall. Now it has been announced today that singer Sam Smith will be performing the theme song for SPECTRE called “Writing’s on the Wall.”

The song is co-written by Smith and Jimmy Napes. This marks the first 007 theme song done by a British male solo artist since 1965.

You may have heard some of his music before. Here’s “I’m Not the Only One.”

SPECTRE producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, “Sam and Jimmy have written the most inspirational song for Spectre and with Sam’s extraordinary vocal performance, ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ will surely be considered one of the greatest Bond songs of all time.”

Smith said: “This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

“Writing’s On The Wall” will be available on September 25th.
