Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen to battle Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange?

Mads Mikkelsen Hannibal

It’s been a year ago since we’ve heard the rumor that Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) was going to be in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, possibly playing the Sorcerer Supreme. Well now we know Benedict Bumberbatch has taken that spot, and it looks like Mikkelsen is in talks to play a villain, as Variety has reported.

According to the site, an offer hasn’t been set, but there should be one soon.

So what villain will Mikkelsen be playing? We have Umberto from Heroic Hollywood saying Dormammu.

Joining Cumberbatch are Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Strange’s mentor, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, with Scott Derrickson helming the movie and Jon Spaihts writing the script.

Stephen Strange is a neurosurgeon who becomes Doctor Strange, a hero who fights those who would harm Earth with magic and other mystical threats. The character was created by Steve Ditko back in 1963.

This is good news for those wanting to see more of Mikkelsen after Hannibal got canceled. He’ll also be appearing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16, 2016.

Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
